what is EMS?

EMS stands for Emergency Medical Services. It is a system that provides care after an incident that caused serious illness or injury occurred. EMS respondents mostly have 12-hour shifts; divided into daytime, nighttime, and peak load.

The 9-1-1 Center sends the nearest EMS unit to the location of the incidence based on GPS satellite information. Highly trained paramedics arrive by ambulance and provide the most advanced emergency medical care. 

  • Drivers not pulling to the RIGHT and STOPPING. 

  • For upcoming drivers, no parental consent on scene.

  • Blocking intersections

  • Being rude to EMS and law enforcement when involved in an incident.

  • Using cell phones to take pictures or videos of medical and traumatic patients, and posting them on social media.

  • Texting causes drivers to become distracted and have a delayed response to move over.

  • Be more attentive to the road and pay less attention to devices which serve as a distraction. 

  • Be patient on the road and be safe by keeping a safe distance at all times.

  • When seeing that an EMS vehicle is approaching, safely and quickly pull over to the RIGHT an STOP

  • Stay stopped at an intersection instead of moving to another street. 

  • Know locations of AED at school or work location.
